Gaucho Gaucho

Argentine teenage girl Guada does not feel like wearing the school uniform, even though it is compulsory. She only feels comfortable in her traditional gaucho clothes. In the US people speak of cowboys, in Argentina they are gauchos, men and sometimes women who sit on their horses herding cattle in the Andes mountains. Guada wants nothing more than to become an accomplished gaucho and her father, himself a gaucho, fully supports her in this. She and her father are part of a community where time seems to have stood still. The age-old traditions that form the foundation of their world do not always make life easier and lighter. But none of these people would want to part with them.

In this documentary shot in beautiful black-and-white, filmmakers Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw (The Truffle Hunters) show a world where galloping through the wilderness on a horse is a source of happiness, where man and nature are inseparable. With a lead role for the condor.
