Drie dagen vis
68-year-old Gerrie Molendijk, a former bus driver, is from Rotterdam, but has lived in the Algarve for many years with his second wife Rosa. He is still registered in the Netherlands, so once a year he comes to the Netherlands for three days, partly for a medical check-up; as he is a COPD patient. During those days, he also sees his 45-year-old son Dick, someone who is at odds with everything and everyone, but especially with himself. Usually, however, Gerrie has little interest in the issues his son struggles with. And that is always a disappointment for Dick, who always expects too much from his father. This year, Gerrie's visit is heavily charged, as it could well be his last.
Shot in beautiful black-and-white, this father-son story, a successful mix of drama and comedy, is the second feature film by Peter Hoogendoorn, who also signed for the screenplay. The leading roles are played with great nuance and empathy by Ton Kas and Guido Pollemans.
