Teenager Olivia and her mother Selma are inseparable, but that does not mean that everything is always hunky dory between them. The opposite, they argue incessantly. After a very intense conflict, Olivia is even placed out of home to the Girla crisis centre. There she meets peers, young people who are damaged, just like herself. And even though she wants nothing more than to return to her mother, her stay at Girla, her interactions with the other residents and the concerns of the social workers tilt her perspective on her situation. More and more, she begins to see how her relationship with her mother functions, which means she has to make choices.
Rosita Wolkers and Roelof Jan Minneboo wrote the screenplay for this intense drama, the feature debut of director Daphne Lucker, which tells a story about friendship, complex family ties and above all about the courage to let go. Starring Sophie Lindner and Thekla Reuten.
