Jeunes mères

The films of Walloon brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne show the fortunes of people, often young people, who find themselves on the fringes of society, people who certainly don't have it easy. They do so in a very realistic way, but always with warmth and compassion. That combination has already won them numerous film awards, including two Golden Palms. Their new film, Jeunes mères, is no exception; it is a moving mosaic film about five young women, played by non-professional actors, fighting for a better life for themselves and their child. Awarded the Best Screenplay prize at Cannes.

Teenagers Ariane, Jessica, Julie, Naïma and Perla are five very different girls, but they have one important thing in common: they are all underage, single mothers. They now live in a special shelter for young mothers and their children, where they find protection and warmth, but most of all closeness; they support each other through thick and thin.
