Cléo de 5 à 7

Paris, 21 June, the longest day of the year: singer Florence, better known by her stage name Cléo Victoire, is convinced she has cancer and has therefore undergone extensive testing. Today, at seven o'clock in the evening, she will receive the results from the doctor. It is now five o'clock, and in the two hours that remain, she meets a fortune teller, a good friend, her lyricist, and a nude model who works for a sculptor. In a park, she also meets the gentle-mannered soldier Antoine, who is about to be sent to Algeria. What binds them together is the fear of death. It is almost seven o'clock.

This second feature film by Agnès Varda, for which she wrote the screenplay herself, is widely regarded as one of the highlights of the Nouvelle Vague. It earned her a nomination for the Palme d'Or at Cannes. Corinne Marchand plays Cléo.
