The Worst Person in the World
Julie (Renate Reinsve), a student in Oslo, may be approaching thirty, but she still doesn't know what she wants from life. She keeps switching career path, first studying medicine, then psychology, next going into photography, and eventually ends up earning a living with all sorts of casual jobs. She strikes up an affair with cartoonist Aksel, who is 15 years her elder, and moves in with him. When she meets Eivind at a party, Julie ditches Aksel and starts an affair with Eivind. Her restlessness persists though and Julie keeps looking for more.
Director Joachim Trier and his regular co-writer Eskil Vogt wrote the screenplay for this character study, a story with depth, but also laugh-out-loud funny moments. After Reprise and Oslo, 31. august, this is the third film in Trier's "Oslo trilogy". For her portrayal of Julie, Reinsve received the Best Actress Award at the latest Cannes Film Festival.
