In de nacht van 25 op 26 april werden de Oscars 2021 uitgereikt. De grote winnaar dit jaar was NOMADLAND. Niet alleen werd deze film verkozen tot Beste Film en won Frances McDormand de Oscar voor Beste Actrice, ook werd Chloé Zhao bekroond tot Beste Regisseur. Na Kathryn Bigalow (The Hurt Locker, 2010) is Zhao de tweede vrouw ooit die de Oscar won voor Beste Regie.

Maar niet alleen NOMADLAND viel in de prijzen. Anthony Hopkins ging ervandoor met de prijs voor Beste Mannelijke hoofdrol in de film THE FATHER. De Deense film DRUK met Mads Mikkelsen won de Oscar voor Beste Internationale Film.
NOMADLAND, THE FATHER en DRUK zijn allen later dit jaar te zien op ons grote witte doek. Wij kunnen niet wachten!
