Hytti nro 6
Finnish archaeology student Laura lives in Moscow in the beautiful flat of Irina, with whom she not only shares her intellectual interests, but also has a love affair. Laura plans to go and see petroglyphs in the north of Russia, with Irina accompanying her. But Irina drops out and Laura has to travel alone. On the train to Murmansk she finds herself stuck in her compartment with Ljoha, an impudent, much-drinking miner. But the journey is long and once the first annoyances and prejudices have been overcome, she and Ljoha turn out to have more in common than they thought. A bond develops that gives both of them new insights.
Director Juho Kuosmanen, best known here for The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki, based this road movie on the eponymous novel by Finnish author Rosa Liksom, a bittersweet story about two completely different people who learn to trust each other. Grand Prix winner, Cannes 2021.
